Welcome Message:
Welcome to the Tenak Talk Forums. Tenak Talk strives to provide a resource to anyone who is seeking information about the different sects of Judaism and all things pertaining to conversion into Judaism, and for those seeking to live their lives as Ger/Noachide. This site is also a resource also for Christians and Messianics who are questioning their faith, or Jewish people who are seeking to increase their observance in Judaism. We welcome all people seeking information about Chassidism, Ultra-Orthodoxy, Orthodoxy, Conservatism, the Reformation and Noachidism. We hope the community here will provide you with emotional support, direction in your religious life, and answers to the tough questions that are out there. We want you to feel comfortable and at home here so you can bring up even the most challenging of topics without judgment or ridicule. To ensure that everyone feels welcome here, we ask that you mind the following forum policies and etiquette.
Our long-term goal is to have a site similar to the many Jewish websites that exist, such as Chabad.org, but with information tailored to those who are leaving Christianity or are taking their first fledgling steps into Jewish observance or Noahidism. We hope to provide resources that include teachings for the weekly Parsha, Prophets and Writings, and information about Shabbat, the Jewish holidays and festivals, and much more.
Forum Rules:
- Please feel free to participate in the areas that fit your current path or the path you are considering.
- Please refrain from ridiculing anyone else for their beliefs.
- Do not, under any circumstances, tell any member of this forum that they are going to “go to hell” if they don’t worship Jesus.
- Absolutely no advertisements of other religious movements will be tolerated. Forum members are encouraged to REPORT any post that they believe to be an effort to proselytize another religion. Upon being reported, Forum moderators will evaluate the suspected post and its associated member account for consideration to be banned and deleted.
- Believing Christians who are genuinely interested in discussing the merits of Judaism or Noachidism may in the course of their discussions need to explain the motives behind their belief systems. We will make every effort to recognize the difference between having an intelligent discussion and actively proselytizing. If you feel you have been banned without due cause, please email a staff member.
- This forum will be left open on Shabbos and Yom Tov, but observant moderators may not be available to maintain the forums during this time. Please keep this in mind when sending requests to the staff.
- Trolls and spammers will be banned and their posts will be deleted.
- Updates to this message will be noted in an off color for a period of at least 2 weeks.
- Editing and deleting of posts will be unrestricted for 48 hours after the post has been made. After this time, the post is made permanent and can only be edited by a moderator.
- Posts by new accounts may be quarantined until approved by a staff member. If you see a quarantine message on your post, other members will not be able to view that message until it has approval by staff. This feature is being used to ensure that posts on this site are not trolls or spammers. It will not be used to silence people who have differing opinions than those held by the staff. (added 9/7/2015)
Forum Etiquette
- Please refrain from swearing. Reported posts may be edited to remove particularly offensive language.
- Do not ridicule another member for their beliefs.
- Click the “REPORT” button on all posts that you believe are trolling or proselytizing.
- Click the “REPORT” button if you see language that is unnecessarily offensive.
- Try not to be too easily offended. Different people are on different emotional levels.
- Keep in mind that some people on this forum would prefer to write the words God as “G-d” or “Hashem”. Less appropriate terms are any effort to spell or sound out one of G-d’s names.
- Some people may feel uncomfortable about typing out the name “Jesus” or “Yeshua”. Suggested alternatives are Jsus, or Yushke. Be creative but not insulting.
- If you are a Christian or Messianic, please be aware that your messiah’s name is not always going to be treated with the utmost respect on this forum. We will try not to be offensive, but you should be prepared to have a thick skin on this matter.
